Get The Dirt On The Webbs

Eddie and I continued to enjoy not having to travel to Dallas for yet another weekend...this past weekend. I thought we were going to have a weekend in, but we actually had a weekend out...in our yard, that is.

Last week, during one of my work days, I was going thru the newspaper looking for stories/ads on/about the Chamber, and I came across an article on a cafe at a local garden. I wasn't aware we had a garden in Midland...so I was intrigued. Additionally, this was a restaurant Eddie and I had never visited, and we are always looking for new places to eat, so we decided to go on Saturday for lunch. While researching the place online in an attempt to figure out where it was located, I discovered that this garden was merely a nursery...however, dispite my disappointment that Midland did not have it's own arboretum, I was still interrested in visiting to try out the "new" cafe.

The cafe was a nice "cute" little place. We really liked the "patio" area. The patio tables surrounded a pond/fountain area that included nice plants and flowers. The pond even had large goldfish. And, despite the fact that it was already in the mid-90's outside, the area was kept nice and cool from outside fans and a patio cover. The food was good too. We really had a nice lunch.

After lunch, we wondered around the nursery. And although I walked into the place, asking Eddie to keep me from spending lots of money, we walked out of there with a palate of Impatience and Bagonias, garden soil and top soil...and found ourselves on our way to Lowes to pick up more watering hoses and other gardening supplies. And, before the weekend was over, I returned to the nursery for more flowers.

I spent Saturday afternoon/evening in the flower bed that surrounds our backyard tree...digging out weeds to make room for our new flowers. It was an AWESOME workout!! Sunday morning, we woke up...it was back to the yard to finish what was started the day before. We spent all Sunday working on our yard. And although it was hard work and left my back & neck screeming for a massage, it was relaxing in a way.

Eddie and I had a really good time working on the yard together. And the excitment has carried on into the week...every day when we get home from work we go outside to inspect our yard. We look for new flowers or just to see if the plants are expanding in growth...it's like we have a yard full of "little babies"
